Portrayal of Tupac on magazine covers.

Here i have three simple separate magazine covers all with the same celebrity on the front (Tupac Shakur).
On the first cover the Rolling Stone Magazine i think Tupac is made to look like a thug, hence all his tattoo's on show (on of them saying THUG LIFE). The Colours used on the cover are different shades of brown maybe to match his skin. This mag cover is maybe used to attract a target audience of maybe 15 and above, music lovers: as i am aware of the rolling stones website and what they have to offer their audiences. The way in which Tupac is standing could also be used to show that he is ready for what anyone has to throw at him, as he has his hands behind his back and is standing tall and firm almost like a brick wall: maybe suggesting nobody can tell him what to do, say or think, he can do what he likes.
On the second Magazine cover we have Tupac all tied up in a straight jacket, this could suggest that he's a lose cannon and not someone to mess with, it's also behind the subheading 'IS TUPAC CRAZY OR JUST MISUNDERSTOOD', this could relate to his songs, people not agreeing with them or not understanding the lyrics and where they come from. I also noticed the caption: 'THE MURDER OF MICHAEL JORDAN'S FATHER' this could make the audience immediately link the two and want to buy the magazine and read  more. The Colours used on this cover are quite old looking, very sepia but works.
In the third Magazine cover we have Tupac being portrayed as an angel, as he has his hands classed in prayer and is surrounded by the words 'TUPAC FREE?', this to me links with the whole angel theme due to the fact that he has to be good if he's freed from jail or he'll have to just go back. The Colours also link with the pose and idea, as the baby blue, grey and white are calm, safe Colours, to maybe show that he's new person and he's going to change his ways. Although he's being portrayed as an angel, he still has the same Tupac tattoos, jewels and vest.. this to me says that he's still the same Tupac on the outside.
In conclusion all the Magazine covers were very plane, and there weren't much language to discuss, but i can still get a clear idea of what thoughts they may have had when trying to use Tupac to sell their magazine to their audience. In all three Magazines Tupac is represented differently to sell their Magazine to a specific audience.

Homework; ROLLING STONE.

Masthead:

The masthead on this website is very outstanding and eye catching. It is recognisable as the rolling stones are a well known band and the Rolling stone magazine may crab the fans attentions but then again may push people who aren't fans away. The saying 'A rolling stone gathers no moss' this suggest that the stones always moving forward, not ties down to anything, a free spirit if you will. This could suggest that the website always has new updates, new things to share, it's varied so that it's not just completely based around one thing. Another thing i would like to point out is that it is in the middle and the top of the page which is unusual as the masthead is usually at the top left. The fact that the masthead is closely related to the band may make people assume that the type of music in the website will be from the same genre as the band is.

Design and Layout:

The layout is cluttered and there's a lot going on, the cluttered look could also be compared to the rolling stones band as they were quit messy looking. However despite the website looking busy it's quit organised as the links  at the top are clearly and neatly laid out. The information and pictures and videos are everywhere around the page, although they do have columns in which to structure the website. The whole look of the website is quite fun and there's a lot to look at, each subheading has a different design which is exciting and nice to look at.

Colours:

The colours of the webpage also relate closely to the rolling stones band again using the three colour rule; red, white and black. Even though the colours of the website are plain, it's not too plain where you'd just want to click off it and look somewhere else. Me personally i wanted to explore the website because of layout, colours, font and design.

Images:

The use of Images around the blog make it look busy and nice to look at, it's something that catches your eye and makes you want to look further into the website to see what it has to offer. The images chosen are unique and attention grabbing, also a lot of them are pictures that are caught in the middle of movement which could also link to the saying 'a rolling stone gathers no moss'

Fonts:

The fonts used on the website are funky and very modern.
